About

This site originally presented information about the planning of Classicizing Philadelphia, a digital humanities research and outreach project in classical reception studies founded at Bryn Mawr College in 2010.  For a fuller description, see “Project Description” on the Documents page and classicizingphiladelphia.org.

Planning for Classicizing Philadelphia during 2011-2012 was supported by a Mellon Tri-College Faculty Forum grant.  Co-principal investigators were Lee T. Pearcy (Bryn Mawr), Deborah Roberts (Haverford), and Grace Ledbetter (Swarthmore).

Initial development during 2013-2014 and further developments in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 were supported by a grant from the Classical Association of the Atlantic States.

On September 1, 2016, Classicizing Philadelphia moved to Haverford College under its new director, Prof. Bret Mulligan. The founding director, Lee T. Pearcy, continues to use this blog to post reflections and musings on classical reception and related matters.
